I've got root on the my Noontec A9 based on the previous firmware I. Should be a way to do this with USB drive or SD media. ROOT For Noontec A9 ICS 4. Email: [email protected]. Firmware Upgrade. The firmware is the operating system (OS) installed on the device. Firmware upgrades can bring new features, improvements and bug fixes. Method 1 : Step 1, Copy ‘install.img’ to the root directory of a USB stick, and connect it to the USB HOST port of the player. Step 2, Press. Hi all, I have had the same issue when downloaded the new firmware it appears to be for V6 and screw up my V8. I read from other topic and managed to resolved by installing MVIX V2.1 the best bios I found, SAMBA and UPNP works with my WINDOWS 7. Firmware is best updated from the MVIX site. The MVIX Ultio is the same machine under a different name. I've tried v2.1 and it's works although I have to tried 4 times finally got it. Have a clean USB stick download 2 files and follow the steps to update you will see MVIX Bios prompt be patience until you get it right. Here all I can share with mine MVIX now no longer call Noontec. Download the manual guide for MVIX Ultio go to the section for Firmware Upgrade Failure Recovery Process for more info REMEMBER 'NOT 'PRO' MODEL' - use clean USB and download 2 files from below link (latest Ver. 2.11)and place in the root directory -Shut down the Player and Remove the power cable from MVIX (Noontec) - connect the USB drive to the player at the back of your Noontec. - Press Power button (on Noontec), at the same time insert the power cable at back. ( press power button for 10 seconds before plugging in the power cable) - check on screen TV if you can see MVIX bios appear you are almost there. Wait few seconds until it rebooted itself. Screen on tv can be 'rain' just like tv without antenna with buzz noise. Wait and rebooted. I tried 4 times until I got it right. If you fail take a break and re try again. Once you get it right you may need to start by re format the HD using MVIX bios to take all the advantage software from MVIX. Read manual guide. Post here if you successful. Suka_nih, you are a genius. Thankyou so much for informing me the v8 has a twin brother. My MVIX Ultio (formally noontec v8) is now a media player again.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noontec are absolutey useless. No customer assistance of any kind. I can only hope there firmware links are now broken while the firmware its self is being fixed. Because i got mine online. To return it would of been expensive and a massive hassle. So this is why i manned up and used the Mvix 2.12 firmware (current latest) worked straight up first time. Use usb drive with the two files on it only. I used the noontec bmp file just for hell of it. Same name anyway. So now I have a hybrid:-P I tried to update the firmware in the first place cus I couldnt get my wifi usb to work. It still doesnt work so im assuming its because on the dongle. Anyone know which wifi dongles are compatible!?!?!?! (cheaper the better;-) ) So as a final note. Say 'F U' to No use-tec and become a Mvix lover. Good luck all. AFTER NOTE: found the 'Xtreamer Wireless-N USB antenna' at it was under 'mvix accessories' and looks identical to the noobtec one. Does it work!?!?!?! Media Player UpdateIf you don't want a brick, then just use mvix as we have already said. Make the effort to read all of what has already been posted. My usb wifi arrived and it works perfectly. I had to bang my head against a wall for a night to figure out how to save an ad-hoc connection. Turned out I had to press the pause/play button rather than the 'ok' button as printed in the user manual. Another little qerk is that sometimes after the media centre has been unplugged form mains power and reconneccted, it seems to have an issue with hdd and sh!ts itsself. THis is just fixed by unplugging the power and waiting a couple of minutes and trying again.
